1st Annual Boot Drive
As Westernport Junior Soccer club is a small community club, we are particularly mindful of sticking together and looking after one another. Bearing this in mind, we would like to make parents aware that Westernport Soccer Club will be holding our annual Boot Drive.
To create and encourage the next Tim Cahill or Harry Kewell, boots are the most necessary, but most expensive item of kit that need to be purchased, and can run parents back anywhere from $50-$150 a year. Over the course of a junior career this can run into the thousands of dollars. Sadly, boots are usually thrown away at the end of the season when the kids have grown out of them, yet they generally still have a lot of miles left in them.
The premise is easy. Bring down any old boots or shin pads that are outgrown, and other members will be able to purchase them. Boots will be sold for $5 a pair, and shin pads will be gold donation. This way, we can band together as a community and help those that aren’t as fortunate, whilst maintaining that none of the kids miss out on having slick boots.
We also welcome any old training jerseys, balls or any other soccer equipment that you may have, that can be beneficial to the club or players.
The Boot Drive stall will be manned by our friendly committee members at training on Wednesday 2nd April.
So get into those cupboards, garages and sheds, find those pre-loved boots and shin-pads and donate them to the club for a great cause.
